How to Convert Regular Time to Military Time?
In order to convert regular time to military time, you can follow the below-mentioned steps.
- During the morning hours, all you have to do is remove the colon from regular time. The military time is the same as regular time without the colon during morning hours i.e. before 12:59 pm. For example, if the time is 10:45 am, the military will be 1045 hours. Also, add a zero if the time is before 10:00 am. For example, 9:30 am is 0930 hours in military time.
- After 12:59 pm, all you have to do is remove the colon and add 12 hours to the time. For example, if the time is 3:30 pm, the military time will be 1530 hours. (3 + 12 = 15)
- For the timings between 12:00 am and 12:59 am, remove the colon and subtract 12 hours. For example, 12:10 am will be 0010 hours in military time.
- The beginning of the day i.e. 12:00 am is written as 0000 hours in military time and similarly, the end of the day is written as 2400 hours.
How to Convert Military Time to Regular Time?
To convert military time to regular time, you can refer to the time chart given in the article or follow the below mentioned steps.
- For the timings between 0000 and 0059 hours, insert a colon in between and add 12 hours. Also, am is used for all the morning timings i.e before 1200 hours. For example, 0030 hours is 12:30 am in regular time. (00 + 12 = 12)
- For the timings between 0100 and 1159, insert a colon and remove the preceding zeros. Also, include am for all the morning timings.
- For 1200 to 1259 hours, insert a colon and add pm to indicate noon timings.
- If the time is between 1300 to 2359, insert a colon, subtract 12 hours from the time and add pm to indicate that the time is after 12 noon.
- The beginning and end of the day i.e. 0000 and 2400 hours are the same as 12:00 am midnight.

Solution:
For the timings between 1300 and 2359 hours, we need to subtract 12 hours, insert a colon and add pm as a successor.
Therefore, the regular time for 1650 hours is,
16 - 12 = 4 i.e. 4:50 pm
Example 2:
The regular time is 9:30 am, what is the value of the same in military time?
Solution:
During morning hours, all we need to do in order to convert regular time to military time is delete the colon, remove am, and add a zero if the time is before 10:00 am.
Therefore, the military time for 9:30 am is,0930 hours
