eDPI Calculator
With the help of the handy tool, the eDPI calculator provided over here you can get the effective dots per inch as output. Give the required set of DPI and sensitivity as input to get eDPI value within less time by just tapping the calculate button.
What is DPI? What is Sensitivity?
If the mouse cursor is moved on the screen over an area of 1 inch (2.54), then the number of dots your cursor travels over the screen is called DPI (Dots per Inch). DPI can be set through an advanced gaming mouse or through computer software.
An in-game setting allowed players to change the DPI setting of a mouse during the game. This method is better than increasing the mouse DPI to a very high level directly. Different games have different in-built sensitivity settings. So that we can also change the mouse setting for each game.
What is eDPI?
eDPI essentially means effective DPI. Gaming people often like to compare their gaming setups. But here, DPI & sensitivity of the mouse comes into play. It is different for each player. So, here comes the concept eDPI, which measures the real-time mouse sensitivity. The formula for eDPI calculation is:
eDPI = DPI × sensitivity
Can we Compare eDPI from Different Games?
Different sensitivity settings are there in different games. So, the same setting means different gameplay & adjustments in different games. So, we cannot compare eDPI values from Different Games.
Can we Compare eDPI from the Same Game?
eDPI from the Same Game can be compared with different players, only if they have the same game setup & with the same screen resolution with a similar gaming style.
How to Compare Sensitivity of Different Games?
Find out your preferable sensitivity setting by playing multiple games. Measure the sensitivity in one game & compare the same setting across all games that you like. See how the new game setting feels & then according to game style do the changes to settings.
Steps to Calculate eDPI
- Check the DPI & sensitivity setting of a friend for comparison.
- Calculate eDPI using the formula.
- Check your setting for DPI for the same game.
- Calculate the needed sensitivity using a friend’s eDPI.

Example:
For the “Valorant” game, DPI my friend is 1400 & in-game sensitivity is 2.5. Find the correct setting for my in-game sensitivity using my friend’s settings if my DPI is 1200
Solution:
The formula for eDPI is
eDPI = DPI × sensitivity
Put the given value to get,
eDPI = 1400 × 2.5 = 3500
It is the eDPI value for the “Valorant ” game.
Now, we know another setting of DPI = 1200
To calculate the sensitivity,
Sensitivity = eDPI / DPI = 3500 / 1200 = 2.91.
Now, I get my sensitivity as 2.91, so now I can set my eDPI the same as my friend.
FAQ's on Free eDPI Calculator
1. Is 1600 DPI better than 800?
1600 DPI is considered much more efficient than 800 DPI as comparatively much faster mouse latency is provided in 1600 DPI.
2. Is eDPI universal?
eDPI is universal SENSITIVITY that can be compared to others regardless of DPI and in-game settings.
3. Is high DPI useful?
If you wish to point at things more accurately then a higher DPI will be useful. As when the DPI is higher the mouse detects and responds to the smaller movements more quickly. While a higher DPI isn't always better, as the mouse cursor will fly across the screen when you move your mouse a little bit.
4. Is eDPI the same in every game?
eDPI value of different games is not comparable, however, the same graphics engine usually has the same sensitivity calculation mechanics.
